About Greg Fergus
It is a tremendous privilege to have represented the people of Hull–Aylmer in the House of Commons since October 2015. Since the beginning of my political journey, I have always sought to put my experience to work for our community. Over the years, I have had the honour of serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, to the Minister of Digital Government, and to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. I also had the privilege of co-founding and co-chairing the Parliamentary Black Caucus for six years, a commitment that remains especially close to my heart. On October 3, 2023, my fellow Members of Parliament did me the honour of electing me Speaker of the House of Commons. I served in that role until May 2025. My academic path led me to the University of Ottawa, where I earned a Bachelor of Social Sciences, and then to Carleton University, where I completed a Bachelor of International Relations. I also pursued graduate studies in this field. Long before being elected to the House of Commons, I came to know our public institutions firsthand as a page, as part of the 1988–1989 cohort.  Beyond politics, my wife and I are the proud parents of three adult children and the happy grandparents of two grandchildren. Every day, I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the people of Hull–Aylmer.
